Association "The Blue Hour" calls for proposals for a contemporary art exhibition called "Monumental Works and Miniatures ARTrageous.
This call for proposals is for visual artists living or working in the Greater Rouen Rouen.
The deadline for submitting projects is 26 January 2011.
Background command
March 8 "International Women's Day," says the rights of women worldwide. This event has become the symbol of their emancipation, the expression of his artistic sensitivity and creativity. Any time since the Middle Ages, women have "fought" for social and sexual autonomy. It is through art - first writing and visual arts - sculpture, painting, photography ... - that the woman has gradually imposed. This day is symbolic, first, status of women and, secondly, the diversity of women in their expressions. It provides recognition of their rights and their values.
Association "The Blue Hour" is organizing this event for several years in different places. In previous years, "March 8, 8 Women, 8 Works" in 2006 and 2009 and "100 Years of Women's Day - Women's 100 works in 2010.

Purpose of consultation
This consultation deals with the deposit of works or the creation and production of contemporary works in the following mediums: drawing, painting, sculpture, sculpture, photography, installation, mosaic, video, ...
Program command
1) monumental works
In the Abbey Saint-Ouen, 8 monumental works will be presented. Each artist will present a work.
Material constraints are (2 options): 4 meters long, 2.30 meters in height, 2.85 m wide, or by proper packaging, maximum 6 meters long, 3 meters wide and 4 meters high.

2) Works miniature
In the gallery of the Hôtel de Ville de Rouen, 64 miniature works will be presented. Each artist will present eight works called "miniatures" whose size is equal to or less than 10 centimeters.
Budget control
The city of Rouen defray transportation, insurance and hanging systems (supports, light, furniture expo ...). It will also communication (production, printing and sending invitations, develop a catalog, cocktail and varnishing).
The artist may have 20 copies of the catalog and send the contact information of people she would like to invite to the opening (maximum 20 people). It will not be paid.
The modalities of implementation: procedure of choice
Each candidate will submit a written application, accompanied by sketches or photographs. This folder does not exceed 5 pages. Each artist can contribute to both projects or just one.
projects will be studied by a steering committee chaired by Corinne Boutella, president of the association "The Blue Hour", curator and designer of the exhibition, and associating Deligniere Virginia, artist Fabrice Fatoux, professor of applied art, Julie Leteurtre responsible for Mission Visual Arts at the City of Rouen, and Nicole Salmon, adherent of the association.
Eight monumental projects and eight miniature projects will be selected after the call for projects.
The selection criteria are: the relevance of the proposal to the challenges of the "Monumental Works and Miniature ARTrageous "Taking into account the location where the works will be exhibited (Town Hall and Abbey), taking into account physical constraints specified in this call for proposals, the artistic quality of the proposal and its inclusion in the creative Contemporary.
Preliminary schedule - January 26, 2011: Closing of the call for projects;
